About Us

I’m Sara (Mum) and there’s Carl (Dad) and we have our little feet Cameron (3 years old) and Dylan (our baby).  The main writer and photographer behind the blog is me, Sara.

We’re a UK family of four that has travelled to 14 countries, starting with our first family trip in 2021 to Mexico for two months. Since then we’ve done a road trip around Eastern Europe, been back to Mexico and skied in France. This summer we spent 2 months exploring Portgual and Morocco on a road trip.

We spend our winters in Antigua where Carl works as a yacht captain.  And when we aren’t travelling we have our home in the UK where we live on the south coast in the sailing community of Hamble.  We love hiking, going to music festivals, paddle boarding and camping.

Pre-children Carl and I had already been to more than 80 countries between us.

We are all about independent travel.  We love the great outdoors and an epic road trip.  We believe in living our best life and letting our boys explore the world whilst having big adventures!

Why did we start travelling with our boys?

When Carl and I first met, he worked as a captain on sail yachts so travel was endemic to his way of living.  This was a bonus for me as I’ve always loved travelling and would join him along the way as he worked.

When we first talked about having children we decided that Carl would continue to sail and that I would travel with our children to visit him.  So we knew from the start that our kids would lead adventurous lives!

Cam was born during the pandemic, when he 6 weeks old the pandemic travel borders opened and we took a last minute holiday to Gran Canaria as a practice run for travelling with a baby. By the time he was 4 months old we were off to Mexico for a 5 week road trip.  Since then, Cam has been to 14 countries and counting.

This year we have welcomed our youngest, baby Dylan, and we’ve continued to enjoy our travelling adventures. This summer we took a 2 month road trip through Portugal and over to Morocco.

Combing Family Travel & Sailing With Being a Digital Nomad

So that we can travel as a family whilst Carl works on yachts I’ve changed jobs and now work as a digital nomad for a tech company.

I work on a part time basis for a tech company selling software and have been able to work as a digital nomad. I’ve worked for long periods in both Spain and Antigua. I also worked when we took our month road trip around Europe in 2022; I even took a call with our CEO at the Eiffel Tour!

As part of my work I’ve taken Cam to work conferences in Miami (where Cam cycled with alligators) and The Algarve in Portugal (where he became fond of club sandwiches by the pool).

I’ve got some great travel tips around how to find childcare abroad whilst working as a digital nomad mum.  Before working in tech I worked in luxury hotels and on cruise ships. Travel, hotels and hospitality run in my blood.

Why do we blog?

When people see us travel with the boys we often get asked “how do you do it”. And it got me thinking………why not start a blog that focuses not only on travel, but how to travel as a family.

We’ve decided to spread our passion for adventure and travel to help inspire other families to live their ‘big adventures’ with their ‘little feet’.

👉 We want to show other parents how it’s possible (and exciting)  to continue to travel with kids

👉 We hope to encourage other families to try living abroad and experience life as a digital nomads

Where next, what’s on our travel bucket list?

There are so many countries to choose from and we have a few that we’re keen to cover in the next few years. We’ve been fortunate enough to take a few months each year to road trip before we head to Antigua.

In June 2024 our plan is a two month road trip to Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Carl used to live in Sweden and is keen to show us around. And whilst we are there we thought it would be fun to take in Norway and Denmark.

Cam is an avid fan of all animals and one of his favourite shows is BBC Deadly 60 – especially the rhino and hippo episodes. Our plans are that in the next few years when both boys are a bit older, is to head to Africa and select a few countries to road trip which would, of course, include some safari action!
