We love visiting the resorts and seeing what each of them has to offer, especially as they have some amazing beaches to explore. As avid sailors, we’ve also had fun trying out their boats and kayaks.

Many of them have great food options available that cater for those looking for fine dining options as well as families like ourselves who need kid-friendly meal options. We loved the pizzas at Blue Waters Resort and Spa and the burgers at St James’ Club and Villas.

1. Carlisle Bay Antigua

With its rooms offering ample space and comfort, guests will find tranquillity and elegance intertwined. The Carlisle Bay Resort takes pride in having an array of water sports, catering to adventurers and sea lovers alike.  There are also tennis courts available to book too. Did you know – Carlisle Bay has some of the best snorkelling in Antigua and is perfect for beginners and kids!  

With rooms amidst acres of lush tropical gardens, you’ll feel like you’re escaping into the rainforest.  The ambience evokes a sense of serenity and connection with nature.

What we like is that it’s got a good location on Fig Tree Drive. It is halfway between English Harbour and Jolly Harbour. This means that lots of the activities to enjoy are just a short taxi ride away.  Pick from ziplining, sightseeing at Nelson’s Dockyard or hiking Walling Dam, all just 25 25-minute drive.  It is also one of the best resorts for kids in Antigua with a full-on kids club offering.

This is one of the more expensive Antigua all-inclusive luxury resorts, however, it’s also totally worth it!

2. Hawksbill Resort

This all-inclusive paradise welcomes guests to its four sprawling private beaches, offering a secluded haven to relax and reconnect.  Each of their four beaches offers something different.  There is a family-friendly beach and a clothing-optional beach to choose from. You’ll need to keep your clothes on at the resort!

The resort’s dedicated team ensures every need is met, from gourmet dining to bespoke activities, showcasing their exceptional service. Family-centric facilities are available (though kids need to be 12 years or older), including sailing and banana boat rides.  Hawksbill Resort will create some unforgettable experiences for guests of all ages, making every moment a cherished memory.

3. Royalton Antigua

The first thing that sets the Royalton Antigua apart from other resorts on the island is its over-water bungalows. Each of them has a private pool and hammock! Guests revel in the opulence of its spacious, elegantly designed suites, where every detail caters to comfort. 

What we like the most is that this family-friendly resort features an array of amenities and activities for guests of all ages, including a splash park for kids, a world-class spa, and a variety of dining options to suit every palate.

4. St. James Club & Villas

Set on a private 100-acre peninsula on Antigua’s southeastern coast St. James Club & Villas stands out for its comprehensive offerings that cater to guests of all ages.  The resort boasts a vibrant kids’ club, ensuring that young guests stay entertained with a variety of activities.

This expansive resort features two white sand beaches, six pools, and a variety of dining options. Plus it has an array of activities, ensuring that every guest finds their perfect retreat. Tennis enthusiasts will appreciate the well-maintained courts available for a friendly match or a competitive game.  Evenings come alive with live music entertainment, providing a perfect backdrop for unwinding.  

Our friends stayed there recently and we visited them on a day pass. We struggled to fit in everything that there was to do as there was so much fun to be had!

Our favourite memory is that it was there that we took Cameron out sailing on a Hobie Cat. It was his first time when he was just 2 years old. He absolutely loved it and has been hooked on dinghy sailing ever since.

This adults-only resort is famous for having the most inclusive offering all-inclusive resorts in Antigua with some packages including scuba diving as well, typical in Sandals resorts.  Their private pools epitomize luxury and they have a further 6 other pools, one of which is a swim-up bar and another outdoor pool with Sandals set out in mosaics.  Adventure seekers can dive into a variety of water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and snorkelling, experiencing the thrill of the Caribbean Sea. Every moment there is designed to celebrate the beauty of Antigua, making your stay unforgettable. 

In the evenings you can choose to dine in several restaurants such as their fine dining restaurant, and then later on you can enjoy the incredible entertainment.   Where dance shows and live music will keep you entertained all night long.  

What our friends who stayed here really liked was the premium selection of drinks available in their room and of course, their private butler service!

11. Sugar Ridge Resort

This stunning resort is set in the mountains between two of our favourite beaches, Turners and Valley Church.  It has a private shuttle service to get you between the resort and the beaches.  

It boasts a state-of-the-art fitness centre, inviting guests to maintain their wellness routines with ease.  For relaxation, the spa at Sugar Ridge offers a range of treatments designed to rejuvenate the body and soul, this is the only Aveda Spa in the Caribbean Islands.  This combination of luxury accommodations, health-focused amenities, and serene spa experiences makes Sugar Ridge an exceptional choice for wellness travellers.

Long Bay Beach is one of our favourite beaches with beautiful coloured shacks selling everything from footballs to souvenirs to snacks.  The beach never really gets very busy, even at the weekends when the locals come down to relax.

Top tip from a local:  This resort is perfectly located for a visit to Devil’s Bridge National Park, Betty’s Hope and Stingray City – each of them is just a 10-minute taxi ride away.

14. Galley Bay Resort & Spa

Tucked away on Antigua’s west coast, Galley Bay Resort & Spa offers a secluded and romantic retreat for adults seeking an intimate and serene escape.  This intimate boutique hotel experience is underscored by unparalleled service.  The resort’s cottages and rooms blend rustic charm with modern comforts, offering guests a private and romantic sanctuary amidst the natural beauty of Antigua.
