What are the best Easter activities in Hampshire 2024?

We live in Hamble near Southampton in Hampshire with our two young kids, and spend a lot of our time (when we aren’t away travelling) out and about exploring all of the fun and often free things to do in Hampshire. We especially love taking part in Easter activities in Hampshire!

There are lots of special Easter activities happening in Hampshire. To help you decide what to do, we’ve put together a list of the best things to do this Easter so that you can make the most of the bank holiday weekend.  We hope that you have lots Easter fun!

Easter Trails and Easter Egg Hunts in Hampshire

National Trust Easter Trails

Have an Easter adventure as you make your way along the fun Easter trail and find nature-inspired activities for the whole family. Visiting a National Trust site is a great place to explore the beautiful parks and gardens whilst spending time together as family.

Trails costs £3 per child.

Winchester Science Centre

Eggs-travaganza Easter hunt – 16th March to 15th April 2024

Did you know that in European folklore, what we in the UK call the Easter bunny was traditionally an Easter hare? 

Join them this Easter on a hunt around the Winchester Science Centre to find the rabbits and hares that are visiting them. Explore the differences between their furry friends and solve some puzzles along the way in order to grab a delicious chocolate treat.

Itchen Valley Country Park

Easter Bunny Trail – 1st April to 16th April 2024

Search for the Easter Bunnies around Itchen Valley Country Park. Every bunny holds an egg which has a code on it. Your task will be to decode the message to earn a prize. Some of the boards also have some QR codes on them revealing some cracking jokes!

Stansted Park

Easter at Stansted Park – 31st March – 14th  April 2024

Visit Stansted Park this Easter and hunt for the 12 Easter eggs hidden by the Easter Bunny. At the same time discover more about the Earls of Bessborough as you search the beautiful State Rooms as well as the extensive Servants Quarters. 

The Stansted Yew Maze and Light Railway will also be open during Easter.

Longdown Activity Farm

The Great Big Golden Egg Hunt – 29th March to 1st 1st April 2024

Who will find their platinum egg! The popular Longdown Golden Egg Hunt is back again this year. In total there are nineteen golden eggs to find each day, PLUS an extremely special platinum egg! In this hunt, there are no clues, and they are VERY hard to find.

There will be a prize for those who are fortunate enough to find a golden egg.  And an eggstra special prize awarded to the person who finds their platinum egg.

Why not enjoy an Easter lunch in their picnic area whilst you’re there.

Whitchurch Silk Mill

Easter Egg Hunt at the Mill – 10th April 2024

You can collect a bag on arrival or alternatively bring your own basket.  You’ll get to hunt high and low around the Mill grounds to find the chocolate eggs left behind by the Easter bunny!

Each child is given a bag and with a sheet to collect 15 chocolates from different locations around the Mill grounds.

Canoe Easter Egg Hunt – 23rd March to 12th April 2024

Easter Weekend Bunny Hunt and Petting Zoo – 29th March to 1st April 2024 

Eggs-plore West Green House this springtime and follow the Easter Bunny trail through the blossom-filled 10-acre spring garden. Children will receive a traditional Easter treat at the end of their adventure and they will also be able to visit the petting zoo.

The children’s activities are charged separately. The Bunny Hunt is £5 per child and the Easter Bunny Hunt & Petting Zoo is £11 per child.

Record Breaking Birds Egg Hunt – 23rd March to 14th April 2024

Learn about ecology like Gilbert White himself did. Young ornithologists can hunt for ten eggs hidden in Gilbert White’s Garden and match the birds named on the eggs with the amazing facts given. If they match all 10 eggs they can claim a chocolate egg!

The Arc

Felt Flower Bookmarks – 2nd to 9th April 2024 – £8 per child

In this hands-on workshop, will give young artists the chance to dive into the world of artistry and nature. Guided by Arc tutors, children will craft their very own bookmarks, decorated using a range of colourful felts and inspired by beautiful flowers.  Helping to ignite their curiosity about the world around them.

Make Your Own Pom Pom Bird – 3rd to 10th April 2024 – £10 per child

Using wool, felt and beads, children will follow along as we create fluffy pom-poms. Afterwards we’ll help turn them into adorable baby birds that you can take home – perfect for Easter!

Make a Ceramic Clay Pot – 4th to 11th April 2024 – £22 per child

Taking inspiration from the artist Grayson Perry and his whimsical ceramic creations! The friendly Arc instructors will guide children through the step-by-step process of moulding and shaping their very own clay pot.

The Brickworks Museum

The Brick People bring LEGO back to the Museum – 3rd and 4th April 2024

Find the models and minifigures hidden around the museum.  And see the display of models made from LEGO then enjoy the free play areas. Then finish of the day by adding d a LEGO Dot mosaic tile to the wall.

Meccano at the Museum – 10th April 2024

Join The Brickworks Museum for a fun and interactive day of Meccano! Invented in 1898 which is just one year after the factory was founded, Meccano is an interactive building tool that can be used in an incredible number of exciting ways. See what the Brickworks Meccano Fun-gineers have created and then have a go at creating your own Meccano models on the interactive play table.

Watercress Line

Easter Bunny Train – 29th March to 1st April 2024

Meet the Easter Bunny at Ropley station and hop onboard their trains for some Easter themed sing-a-longs with the Easter Bunny’s helpers.  Children will get a chance to enjoy their free activity sheet and Easter egg spotter trail.  

There will also be craft activities such as a make your own Easter Ears activity and Easter colouring

Watercress Line – The Railway Station, Alresford, Hampshire, SO24 9JG

Collect a fun Easter trail sheet from the visitor entrance and explore the gardens as you and your children try to match the different types of birds with their eggs from the clues you will find. Also, look out for special letters to be able to identify the bird who laid the beautiful blue eggs. 

Once you return your completed trail sheet you can claim a chocolate Easter treat, plus enter for a chance to win a family membership.

Paulton’s Park

Hoppy Easter – 29th March to 14th April 2024

Meet Bobtail Bunny and Betty Bunny at Paultons Park this Easter. You will be able to meet these cute characters at the main entrance whilst the Park entrance will be full of Easter decorations with colourful giant Easter eggs and bunnies.

Spring into a new season of exciting science fun at their new Boom & Bloom event! Outside things whilst things are beginning to bloom and inside the experiments are set to go boom. As well as all the usual Science Centre fun, there’ll be even more on offer to excite all ages including an Easter egg hunt.

The Easter holidays are from 29th March 2024 to 12th April 2024, with the Easter weekend right in the middle! Easter Sunday is 31st March and Easter Monday is 1st April.
